Two hulking demons, red flesh and bone ridges showing along their body, waited by the gates, they each held large swords and cruelly spiked shields. Yet these two hulking forms snapped to attention as a hunched rat-like being moved across the gate, hauling a large form with him. "Bring me some stakes you mindless lumps!" His voice clicked as his teeth tapped together. The two lumbering demons went off and As they marched away The rat demon drew one of his Kindjalls and slowly turned it in his hand. "I want..." He stabbed the blade into the hulking carcass of what appeared to be a steel-coated shark. He tore a long gash down it's chest and reached his hand in, closing it around something.
"...Your Heart..." With a hard tug and some twists he heard a popping, tearing noise. The rat demon slowly withdrew his hand, fur matted down and slick with thick, almost black blood, heart's blood. "ohhhhhh... oh-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h" he gave a wheezing, throaty laugh. "you poor little shark... still alive for all this..." The heart glowed, metal and glass and crystal with flesh and skin, slowly pulsing as a flickering light burns within it. "oh I'm going to hold you close, I'm going to hold on to you..." Skaven tucked the heart into his clothes, under a layer of lamellar armor over his chest. The two guards returned with huge, metal spikes, each with hooked bottoms and barbed tops. "Raise him.... RAISE HIM YOU STUPID FOOLS!" The guards silently agreed, taking their spikes and ramming them through the shark's flesh. the barbs dug in and held him in place as they lifted the body and hung it over the gate, Cerberus snarled and looked up at the new decoration, then resumed pacing and watching for intruders...

“You waste resources on this shark?”
Zira’s voice came from behind the rat demon, dipped in a smooth royal tone which emphasizes her importance as a spawn of Mundus. If that wasn’t enough the black Princess’ gown with silver sparkles on it was certainly enough to emphasize it. That combined with the silver Princess’ crown and matching slippers.
It wasn’t her usual style but Zira had to please father one way or another. She figured this was the easiest way that didn’t involve bringing him the heads of Rebellion leaders. As much as she despised this attire it did help bring out her natural beauty. The crimson lights coming from up above in the sky shining down upon her, making the silver sparkles on her dress appear like drops of blood. The Princess’ hand were clenched around the hairs of a low-level demon being dragged across the ground. It was dumb enough to attack her and met the same end as so many before it.
“Those were perfectly good spikes too.”
Zira frowned and then threw the dead caucus in her own hands over to the Cerberus, who wasted no time tearing it apart with his bare teeth.
“Report?” she asked looking over to the man.

Skaven bowed low, pulling his garments slightly. He wore fine cloth-and-fur robes over a suit of gold plated lamelar armor. He almost looked regal were it not for his hunched and dislikeable rat-demon hide... "Begging your pardon mistress..." Skaven waved his hand over to the bleeding body of the great shark, his voice simpering and soft, almost worshipful of Mundus's favored child. He was sure to keep his head bowed but his mind cleared, He'd heard rumours of Zira knowing what people were thinking, and his paranoia and superstition played to that idle gossip. "...but this being was the last known deviant to your father's will within the city of mortis."
he did not raise his head, but he straightened his back a bit, his hands slowly rubbing together, kneeding each other as he spoke in that grovelling, sycophantic tone. "your magnanimous father was to be informed of this, your elegance. I was going to request most humbly that, now that his city is pure and his will is unquestionable law, I'd be allowed to head into the field. There was talk of rebels gathering support within the ruins of the old human cities..." He turned his head but still did not raise it, waving over the horizon. "...and I was going to seek out and crush this opposition in your father's name, exalted one..." His voice and tone remained soft and supportive, he turned back and softly begun to wring his hands again, praying she was not displeased with him. Skaven was terrified of Zira, she was born from the most powerful demon alive and was beautiful and terrible to behold, she had always made Skaven uneasy, making him feel like people were touching him... touching places in his mind. "I was just, grand demoness, putting the last of the rebels on display above the city walls, a message to the populace... Forgive me, o daughter of Mundus, if you were unpleased with your humble servant's actions..." He remained bowing and grovelling, praying the glow from the stolen heart did not seep through the plates of his armor or the cloth of his robes.

Zira watched as the creature grovelled at her feet.
How did anybody find this appealing? Zira hated it when anything would grovel at her in such a way. It turned knots in her stomach she didn’t want to be turned. Supposedly it was better to be feared than loved, but Zira thought that was more of a case-to-case scenario. In this scenario, it was good to have this thing bowing and grovelling. It would only prove to annoy Zira if he ever had reason to attack her.
“You can rise.”
As soon as Zira said that she saw something in his mind which granted her attention.
“Hold on.”
Zira's hand reached into his clothes, probably the closest he would ever get to being touched by her, and took out the heart of this latest victim. Looking it over with an ounce of disgust planted upon her features before looking back to the rat-demon.
“Is this for your personal collection?”

Skaven froze, his mind raced, then he started to calm himself again quickly, he tried not to give any signs of fear though an errant twich, a slight change in breathing, might have given something away, his voice remained smooth and still with that wimpering, begging tone. "oh, most powerful and incredible of mundus's children, please forgive the weak depravity of your most humble and undeserving of subjects..." He wrung his hands a little more then held them out pleadingly. "I took the heart from him to remind me of this last meager triumph, the one split second I felt I could be more than this piteous and distainful creature before you." He shifted his weight and dropped to his knees his tail slowly writhing and patting on the ground as he slowly scurried a little closer to Zira, his claws upwards and a piteous look on his face. "please grant your subject this one trophy of his victory... please o most wonderous and beautiful of the dark lord's children? Please miss firestone, mistress of mortis..." He prayed she'd give it back, let him keep that heart...

This man was laying it on thick.
Zira tossed the heart back to Skaven before walking away, truly disgusted by his display. Speaking of display, Zira walked over to where the dead demon was hung. This was the last deviant to her father’s will? Were there nobody else left in this city that could stand against him? Suddenly the Cerberus stood up and began to howl loudly. Zira turned around and saw something coming in the distance.
“We have company.”
Zira hand went to the hilt of Force Edge, preparing for whatever drew near.

As far as the eye could see, the land surrounding the hellish bastion of Mortis had been scarred and blasted by the invasion of Mundus' armies. Nothing remained but a dead wasteland; the silent husks of ruined buildings lay crumbling to dust; plant life had been choked and eradicated; and haunting cries of despair and pain rode the air like anguished whispers from the grave.
Yet across this blackened landscape, this dark testament to the demonic encroachment that now held the human world firmly in its grasp, there came marching towards the bleak city an avatar of hope for its oppressed populace. Through the silence it carried unnervingly well; the slow, steady, metallic thud of footsteps. Across the scorched plains, a light could be seen; one pure and bright as had never been seen within the city's walls.
That light shone from within the armour of a knight. Its plating was pale blue, the detailing an equally soft yellow, and a blue ponytail flowed from the back of the full-faced helmet. Behind its visors, no eyes could be seen; only that same bright, almost ethereal light. With each step it took, the high clanking of the armour rang through the silence.
Within his helm, Nemamiah regarded the beings waiting at the gates; a small, prostrated rat; an enormous three-headed dog; and a lithe, black-haired female. The latter was human in appearance, but judging from the fact that the rat demon was not only not attacking her, but seemed to be bowing before her, that was the only human thing about her. He bore no weapons, nor were his wings visible, but he didn't expect these three to brook the sudden appearance of a being such as he.
They would likely have been able to feel his holy presence a mile away...

Skaven shifted uneasily and turned his gaze over the horizon. There was a speck. Something about that speck didn't feel right but it just looked so immensely insignificant. Barely registering o'er the horizon. Whatever it was it had Cerberus going wild. He felt a little edgy, something disgustingly pure was about, some insufferable holy presence was near. Skaven licked his yellowing teeth nervously then looked to Zira. "my lady... that speck on the horizon, do you think that is what has enraged cerberus?" He slowly stood, tucking the faintly glowing heart back into his robes, beneith his armor. The Rat Demon's tail slowly started to sway, occasionally leaving the ground and slapping back down, the large barbed blade at the end of his tail ringing with each impact. His hands softly rubbing together as he turned to look over the horizon.
"What insignificant speck dares challenge the will of Mundus?" Cerberus continued baying and howling, and Skaven begun to feal the unease of the demon, he turned to Zira "O demon princess, maybe you should return to the Temen Ni Gru..." the grovelling was almost habitual at this point, he squirmed a little as that strange uncomfortable feeling kept gnawing at him. "...Something about this is not right." A very real fear began to grow in that rat demon, cold in his guts as he stared at that dot over the horizon. How can something so small and far away seem so forboding?

Zira simply stared in awe at the bright light fast approaching.
Neither fear nor joy filled her body at the sight of it. Zira began moving forward until she heard Skaven speak and looked down at him. Eyes narrowing at the way he treated her, as if she was just some defenseless princess that needed protection.
“Must I remind you I’m a warrior?”
Showing no fear Zira marched directly towards the unknown holy presence. Cerberus prepared to launch an attack if needed while Firestone now blocked the creature’s path.
“Who are you?” she asked, ready to draw Force Edge when necessary.

Indeed, it seemed he had a figure of some authority before him. The woman turned sharply upon the rodent, accosting him for his suggestion that she leave the situation to him, before marching straight towards whatever it was that had the rat so unnerved...
Within his helm, the angel smiled.
He stopped in place and raised his head slightly to acknowledge her when she came within earshot and demanded a name. In the back of his mind, he had to question the reasoning behind this; it should be quite plain what he was, so a demon such as her had no need for names or excuses in judging that the only way forth was combat. This could, however, mean that she was simply interested in the strange being before her. Perhaps she had designs other than to send him away in pieces...
"My name is Nemamiah," the armoured knight answered simply, his voice cool and level. He tilted his head up and to the side, looking past the woman and indicating the sheer walls behind her. "I seek passage into the city."

Skaven held back by the gate and by Cerberus, as soon as Zira had moved away from him he gave a small sneer, at the situation, at the interloper, at zira herself... He turned and looked up at the carcass, then moved back a few steps. He kept his eyes on the demon princess and the armored newcomer, something about that man just churned Skaven's guts, some feeling making him shudder.
Nemamiah... what an interesting name. He wished entrance to the city, didn't everyone? Humans flocked to the supposed safety of Mortis as well as other demons and even vampires. It was interesting, really. After Mundus won and demons became the rulers of the world, all life seemed to flock to the demon god, accepting their defeat... For now, Skaven watched Nemamiah, waiting to see what happens with him and Zira

Nemamiah….
It was safe to say he meant business, judging by the attire. Last thing Zira wanted to do was fight somebody on the side of good, but if that’s what had to happen in order to keep her cover then so be it. If only Skaven wasn’t here right now, then things would be easier.
Wait. Skaven.
“Oh? And what do you intend to do once you’re pass the gates?” she replied.
Zira took a couple steps back, Cerberus was ready to attack but Zira signaled for it to stay back. She sneered, putting on her best super-villain impression before turning back to Skaven.
“My friend here has an issue with new people. As you can see the last one wanting to get through the gates didn’t see eye-to-eye with him.”
Zira pointed over to the dead shark demon.
“Isn’t that right, Skaven?”

The rat demon looked surprised at first, his jaw dropping a little as Zira directed the attention to him, then he looked where she pointed, up at the slain shark. He DID kill that one, it was fun too... Gave that bastard fish exactly what he deserved, He could see the dark-blue body framed by the red sun, blood still dripping from the wounds. "well- uhh... yes." Skaven's voice sounded a little faint at first, like he was lacking for words. He truly was, such praise was not something he was used to, Working for Mundus yet not being of his seed almost never garnered one praise, you were merely "sufficient" or "adiquate" when you succeeded. The Rat demon felt pride well up in him. He was the big cheese now! He was recieving PRAISE! He swelled a little, standing tall and gaining that cocky grin and swagger of a man recieving praise for the first time in his life.
"Well, yes. All those who dare defy the lord Mundus will join that dissident..." He pointed a thumb up at the corpse of Clash, his voice sneering with a mix of pride and malice. He was the one who killed that accursed shark, he was the one who rooted out and crushed the last rebel against Mundus in the city of Mortis... and it was Skaven who felt the shark's somehow still-living heart beating, giving off that warm glow under the plates of his armor and the folds of his robe. "...Will enjoy the view of the world outside these walls from atop a large stake, if enough of them is left. I think some people might be taken down a few notches, maybe just their head on a pike." His voice rang of pride and arrogance, Zira had complimented him! She was pleased with his work in the city! He smiled a broad, yellow-toothed grin, not entirely an evil one but one certainly showing those huge incisors and crooked molars of his. His straightened back made him almost apear the same height as a normal person, and his kindjall swords clattered against the armor on his back as he shifted a little. He turned those all-black rateyes of his to Nemamiah. "...so tell me, Nemamiah, what brings you to the City of the demon god Mundus?"
